About
Welcome to the site of Mike Wozniewski - programmer, designer, technologist.
Mike Wozniewski is a designer and developer of interactive software for the arts. As a freelance researcher, he maintains collaborations with several cutting edge institutions, and many creative minds who desire to push the boundaries of human-machine interaction.
He has been a long time member of the Centre for Intelligent Machines at McGill University, where he developed the core technology for the Audioscape Project, which has been featured in several installations, performances, and international conferences. In 2006, Mike joined the Open Territories team at the Society for Arts and Technology [SAT], where he worked with Zack Settel to create open source tools for artists who work with 3D audio. Later, as part of the [propulse]ART project, this technology evolved to support multiple users in (networked) immersive virtual environments.
As computer interaction becomes more mobile and ubiquitous, Mike finds himself working with tools that connect people together, and with their surroundings. Examples include the RawMaterials project, that allowed the public to contribute images, sounds and videos during live events. The Mobile Audioscape project, on the other hand, has focused on GPS and connectivity to allow for the creation of mixed reality environments.
Mike is also the head developer and maintainer of the SPIN framework, which allows for the creation and organization of spatial interaction in virtual environments.
