About

Welcome to the site of Mike Wozniewski – programmer, designer, technologist.

Mike Wozniewski is a designer and developer of interactive software for the arts, with a focus on mixed reality technologies. As a freelance researcher, he maintains collaborations with several leading research institutions and works with internationally renowned artists, designers and creators.

He has been a long time member of the Centre for Intelligent Machines at McGill University, where he developed the core technology for the Audioscape Project, which has been featured in several installations, performances, and international conferences. In 2006, Mike joined the team at the the Open Territories team at the Society for Arts and Technology [SAT], where he helped to develop several open source tools for multimedia artists and designers. Examples include authoring tools for 3D audio (AudioTwist), telepresence systems (PropulseART), photo/video aggregation for mobile devices (RawMaterials), and authoring software for virtual 3D environments (SPIN Framework). With additional collaborations with University of Montreal (Panoscope 360 and Volumetric Audio Lab), he continues to integrate these tools for large-scale deployment in multi-sensory immersive environments.

As computer interaction becomes more mobile and ubiquitous, Mike finds himself developing on mobile platforms. With McGill, he is helping to create a mobile spatial audio system for the blind and visually impaired community (ISAS). He also maintains a research & development studio, called Hololabs, which builds 3D authoring and augmented reality applications for the mobile market.

On this site, you will find a blog of exploits and interesting things that Mike has discovered while working on these various projects.
